Confidence & Wellbeing

As an end of day activity art sessions held with groups of six - giving children the opportunity to experiment with, and enjoy, a variety of art materials and techniques. Geared for all and through the ability to teach, regardless of ability, each session is fun and rewarding, enabling each child to produce and enjoy producing individual work. A collection of sessions to suit the curriculum throughout the school year; using simple techniques, which both teachers and TA's can work with and teach.

To make optimum use of the school day - especially in KS1 - sessions take place in the last hour/session at the end of the school day - producing artworks with small, manageable groups, enhances pupil confidence and wellbeing. Reinforcing this when with the acknowledgement and recognition of the quality of their art when, displayed in and around school.

Smaller Teaching Groups

Usually, school classrooms are informally divided by the placement of tables and chairs. This gives most classrooms a natural layout to allow the accommodation of smaller groups of children.

During 2022, I found that by tutoring a table of six children, on separate days, I was able to successfully deliver art lessons, to the whole class, during the course of a week.

The manageable size of each group of children that I tutored daily meant that I could offer individual specialised and focused art tuition, which met children’s individual needs. I believe this contributed greatly to the children’s enjoyment and success in exploring all forms of art mediums.

The work produced was of such a high standard and therefore displayed in the class and around the school, the beneficial impact of this on their confidence and self-esteem was obvious. They were so pleased that their work was being shown to everyone!
