Aligning with Art

Lucy lives in Harston and holds an enhanced DBS check, Paediatric First Aid (level 3) and is fully insured. Her children are now finishing University and sitting A levels respectively ... enabling Lucy to now dedicate more of her time to art!

Lucy grew up surrounded by art; both parents as artists; her mother studied art at St Martins School of Art, was taught by Elizabeth Frink (and Quentin Crisp was the life model!).  Her father … as oppose to photographing family events, captured occasions at every opportunity with a quick sketch which he also well known to use as a teaching aid (lecturer in Veterinary Anatomy at The University of Cambridge, one can still see a testy to his art in the ladies loo, at The Madingley Veterinary School site; his wall painting was saved by students and staff during building works and now forms the back wall in the ladies restroom).

"following a 17 years in London publishing ... welcome return to her art"

Rediscovering her art has been a natural progression and very welcomed following bringing up her family and a career in magazine publishing. Using her late father's sketches to create her freelance business (St Lucy Designs) in association with CAMVET.  Lucy is now going full circle and finding her own artistic ability again and passing them onto all those interested in also realigning with their art.

Sculpture Inspiration & A Level Artwork

"I was actually in the museum (that my Dad set up) Downing Street, Tennis Court Road, Anatomy site - drawing dog skeletons with my Dad when I took this photo of him.  I welded the armature in steel, using our pointer dog, Joker, as my model. I then plastered it with scrim and plaster at an evening course with Sculptor Peter, in Bassingbourn".

Studies of sleeping and lying down pointer dog in chalk pastel. For A level; 'bursting beans' using chalk pastel, and butterfly wing in oil pastel.
